Enterprise Data Management **NEW for 2011!**
Data management has evolved to support for enterprise architecture and information technology functions and capabilities in organizations, today. This course presents a framework of ten (10) essential DM functions, together with the processes which enable them. The student will learn how to identify, understand, and model the life cycle elements and environmental factors of DM while considering the critical environment in which they take place. Ideal for data managers, enterprise architects, data modelers, and those who manage these functions in their organizations.
Basic Data Management
Presents the fundamental concepts of Data Management. Ideal
for the new data manager, who is seeking a better understanding
of the elements and functions of data management.
Advanced Data Management
Builds on basic DM fundamentals and applies new stategies
and technology solutions and tools to the practice of Data
Management. Provides insights into the future operational
construct of DM. Usually taught in conjunction with Basic
Data Management, only – not available as a stand-alone
course.

Data Management Reinvented: New Methods, Approaches, and
Guidance
What has happened to DM in the past 50 years? The business
case, rationale, top-level guidance, principles, processes
and enablers for DM reinvention, what they are, and how they
are applied. Ideal for the seasoned DM practitioner who is
seeking new knowledge about DM, today.

Data Management Boot Camp
Designed for the new or the experienced data manager who
needs and desires complete acquisition training for DM, but
who has a complete understanding of DM fundamental concepts/principles.
Two days of in-depth roles, responsibilities, functions,
and insights into the aspects of DM, how they are applied,
and who uses them to achieve what objectives. Roles reversal
teaches students how to gain vantage point understanding,
to write and to interpret DM and data requirements. Optimum
for teams comprised of trading partners or subs.
Data Management Application and Practice in Defense and
Government Contracting
Defines the process of DM from acquisition and planning for
data through and including sustainment and disposal Requirements
and associated functions. Focuses on acquisition DM. Addresses
the special aspects of intellectual property, and third party
data – and how those data are managed. Ideal for procurement
or contracts professionals who are seeking new knowledge
about the value quotient and treatment of data assets.

Government Managers
Provides managers at the operational, tactical, and strategic
levels of the enterprise with practical understanding and
application of the use and value of DM to enhance program
or project management. Defines the return on investment and
understanding for DM’s contribution to the organizational
bottom line. Perspective for mid-level to corporate management
professionals – industry or government.

ANSI/GEIA-859: An Overview of the Industry/Government Standard
for Data Management
Provides managers and practitioners with an understanding
of the principles and enablers for performance-based data
management. This suite of guidance is described as “the cornerstone
for Department of Defense Data Management policy”. Ideal
for practitioners at all levels, for program managers, for
corporate level executives, and practitioners.
Program Technical Data Management
Provides the government view into DM, establishes government
functions and needs for DM, discusses fulfillment of government
practitioner objectives, and presents the dialogue between
industry and government to achieve successful outcomes.
Focus is on understanding the vantage point of the other
parties involved, and discerning how to interpret business
requirements and constraints while also accommodating the
goals of all parties. This course has been taught to the
US Navy data management community.
Configuration Data Management
Explores the similarities, differences, and relationships
between the two related disciplines of CM and DM. Only
through understanding the two disciplines is it possible
to develop a successful approach to making them mutually
supportive and complementary. This course features sections
which address “CM for the DM Practitioner” and “DM for
the CM Practitioner”. Ideal for cross training purposes,
and to gain additional insights into how these two important
functions are performed most effectively in a team environment.
Enterprise Architecture and Data Management, Integrated
Data management has evolved to support for enterprise architecture
and information technology functions and capabilities in
organizations, today. This course presents a framework of
nine essential DM functions, together with the processes
which enable them. The student will learn how to move down
the life cycle of DM while considering the critical environment
in which they take place. Ideal for data managers, enterprise
architects, data modelers, and those who manage these functions
in their organizations.
Software Configuration Management for Industry and
Government
This course addresses software CM inside both commercial
industry and defense industry contracts. Special emphasis
on how to achieve CMMI success, from the perspective and
experience of an instructor who has lead 3 business units
of a major OEM to CMMI Level 5 compliance – and kept them
there! Ideal for practitioners and managers.
